How to Claim Oregon Lottery Prizes

Congrats on your win! On this page, you'll find helpful information on how to claim, including expiration deadlines, taxes, payout options, and more. Where to claim depends on how much you've won - you may be able to claim at a retailer, lottery office, or by mail.

First things first: sign the back of your ticket and keep it safe. If your ticket is unsigned, then anyone in possession of the ticket can claim your win. For added security, make a copy or take a photo of both sides of the ticket.

Prize Claim Deadline

In Oregon, you have one year from the draw date to redeem a winning ticket - so don't leave your claim too long.

Unclaimed prize money is returned to the state and used to support the programs that OR voters have approved to receive lottery funding, including most recently Outdoor Schools and Veterans' Services.

Tax Withholdings

By law, the Lottery is required to withhold an 8% state tax on all prizes of $1,500 and above. For non-Video Lottery prizes over $5,000, 8% state tax and 24% federal tax are withheld. Video Lottery prizes only have the 8% state tax withheld. You will receive your prize minus any withholdings.

Prizes of $50,000 and Above

For assistance with claiming large prizes of $50,000 and up, call the Lottery at 800-766-6789.

Prizes Below $50,000

If you've won less than $50,000, you have multiple ways to claim, including by mail, via secure dropbox, at a Prize Payment Center, or for prizes up to $600, at a Lottery retailer.

Claim by Mail

Winners can mail in their prize claim to the Lottery. Keep a copy of your ticket and claim form for safekeeping. Make sure to include your return address on the envelope, and use certified or registered mail - the Lottery is not responsible for lost claims.

Sign the back of your ticket and complete a Winner Claim Form; put both into an envelope and send to the Lottery:

PO Box 14515
Salem, OR 97309

Once the Lottery receives your claim, they will begin processing it - checks are usually sent within 14 days.

Claim by Drop Box

The Lottery has installed a secure drop box at its headquarters at 500 Airport Rd SE, Salem, OR 97301. There is outdoor access to the drop box to deposit a claim 24/7. The box is near the window with the awning. Claim forms and envelopes are available next to the drop box, or you can bring your own.

Sign the back of your ticket and fill out a Winner Claim Form; put both in an envelope and place the envelope in the drop box.

Claims are processed on weekdays. Once the Lottery receives your claim, they will begin processing it - checks are usually sent within 14 days.

Claim at a Prize Payment Center

To claim prizes above $600 and under $50,000, winners can visit the Lottery's Salem or Wilsonville Prize Payment Centers. Sign your ticket and bring it with you; for faster processing, the Lottery also recommends bringing a completed claim form. Appointments are strongly recommended to avoid long wait times.
